Learn 2 Skate For Children (Ages 3-14 years)
Private classes at AIM ABOVE are conducted in a positive atmosphere making skating fun and preparing participants to skate recreationally, figure skate, or play hockey. 1-on-1 is the smartest thing a parent can do in terms of registering their child and setting them up for success.
At Aim Above, there are two options to learn. The first is on a pay-as-you go program where timing is flexible to accommodate lessons to your schedule, and the second is a scheduled biweekly or weekly scheduled program. In the scheduled program, lessons are scheduled at a consistent time interval during the week, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly at a skating arena near you.
Our Qualified Instructors follow the CanSkate program. CanSkate is Canada's only national learn-to-skate program. It was developed by experts to teach the fundamentals of skating in a progressive and sequential manner. When you/your child registers for private or semi-private group lessons at your local skating rink, you also become empowered to learn to skate at an exponential rate and become the best skater you can be.
Aim Above's Learn 2 Skate For Children Skating program focuses on the development of six fundamental movements organized in six stages of learning, with an optional 7th level for skaters who want to move into figure skating. The skills are arranged in progressions, from very simple to the more complex. Each stage has a primary focus. Once the skills on each stage are mastered, a feeling of accomplishment and success is warranted.
The names of the SKATING STAGES are:
Stage 1 - Balance
Stage 2 - Glide Forward
Stage 3 - Glide Backward
Stage 4 - Edges
Stage 5 - Power
Stage 6 - Speed
Stage 7 (optional) - Pre-Preliminary
The FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENTS are:
